Last year, Darren Aronofsky did the unthinkable - he turned his low-budget, artsy, passion project into his calling card.
Typically, directors of Aronofsky's bend (that is, people in the business for more than just money, fame, and blow) have to stoop to high-concept thrillers or comic book movies to be taken seriously by major studios, who in turn fund their work, but Aronofsky's unprecedented success with "Black Swan" (which made over $300 million worldwide) helped him sidestep the need to direct an "X-Men" or "Robocop" movie.

The marketing execs promoting "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" may have tried to get cute at the film's premiere, calling the entryway to the screening "the black carpet," but the real star at opening night made sure the carpet was all green.
Kermit the Frog got behind the mic and played celebrity journo for the premiere, interviewing everyone from Penelope Cruz (who called him by his Spanish name, Gustavo) and Johnny Depp to Keith Richards and Geoffrey Rush.

Rihanna's video for her latest single "California King Bed" hit the net yesterday. The clip is quite different from her last few video for "S&M," in a good way.
The video is much less whips and chains and much more light and lingerie. Still rocking that red bedhead, RiRi looks smoking hot while writhing in a chair.
The premise of the video, shot by director Anthony Mandler, shows Ri and her shirtless hunk in the same California king-sized bed.

Vanessa and Little J's days as "Gossip Girl" regulars are numbered.
Even though we knew it was inevitable, it doesn't make it any easier that two of the Upper East Siders we have grown to love/hate will no longer be with us as permanent fixtures on the Manhattan scene.
The character of Jenny played by teen rebel Taylor Momsen has barely been mentioned this season after she was banished from the island by Rufus and, more importantly, by Blair. Jessica Szohr, aka Vanessa, has been spotted creeping around town but her lines are few and far between.
Vanessa and Little J's days as "Gossip Girl" regulars are numbered.

The battle over the Arcadian is still going, with Barney on one side and Marshall on the other. So now, it all comes down to Ted...did his experience in the hotel with Zoey change his mind enough to go against GNB?
Barney assumes Ted's change of heart is because of Zoey's "magic lady bits," but Ted insists that he wants to keep the Arcadian's architect's work alive.

Ticket holders for the live "Glee" tour this summer might get a little something extra for their purchase...that something extra being Gwyneth Paltrow!
Just as they did during last year's off-season, the "Glee" cast will tour the country and perform songs from the show live in front of sold-out crowds. This year, of course, the core cast will be joined by season two newbies Chord Overstreet (Sam) and Darren Criss (Blaine) as well as The Warblers.

When it comes to the Hollywood baby name game, it seems like the rich and famous are always trying to outdo one another.
Welp, actress Alicia Silverstone and her husband Christopher Jarecki have just moved to the top of the class. The couple welcomed a son last Thursday and today they made the official announcement via Silverstone's blog.
"My husband and I welcomed our 7 lb 15 oz baby boy Bear Blu Jarecki into the world on May 5 at 7:50 a.

The race to be the first "Snow White" movie in theaters is heating up! It seemed for a while that the Lily Collins and Julia Roberts version was in the lead, but the Universal adaptation "Snow White and the Huntsman" with Kristen Stewart has a possible ace up its sleeve: "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth.
The title role of the Huntsman has been a difficult one to fill, as both Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman have both been offered the role but never ended up signing.

It looks like Colin Hanks is going from one of "The Good Guys" to a serious bad guy.
Hanks has been cast in the new season of Showtime's hit drama "Dexter," according to a report from TV Line. Hanks has found some success following in his father Tom's footsteps, having jump-started his career with a leading role in "Orange County" and recently landed the lead in the short-lived comedy series "The Good Guys.
