May 08, 2011 @ 7:56 pm PST    Saturday Night Live, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides     Andy Neuenschwander
Saturday featured a pretty momentous "Saturday Night Live." Not only did Tina Fey host and bring back her Sarah Palin impression, but the Digital Short featured a new Lonely Island video! The boys are in the studio laying down a track when Michael Bolton shows up. Yes, that Michael Bolton. He's there to sing a "sexy hook" for their new rap about the club, making it rain, and getting with hot women.

May 08, 2011 @ 2:19 pm PST    American Idol     Andy Neuenschwander
Casey Abrams may be gone from the competition, but pretty soon he'll be getting one more chance to sing on the "American Idol" stage. Abrams visited Ellen DeGeneres on her show on Friday, where she told him that he would be performing on stage during the "American Idol" finale. Not only that, but Abrams will be performing alongside Jack Black. Black is probably best known for his movie roles, but he got his start in his comedy rock band Tenacious D.

It's the weekend, and that can mean only one thing: it's time for Rebecca Black's "Friday." The YouTube sensation, which has earned more hits than music videos from internet giants like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, has already been covered (or spoofed) by just about everyone out there, from obscure internet musicians to the likes of Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert.

May 07, 2011 @ 12:09 pm PST    Sukiyaki Western Django     Andy Neuenschwander
How about this for a dream team: Quentin Tarantino and Will Smith, working together in a blockbuster western action film. It could happen, as Smith is currently the frontrunner to play the lead in Tarantino's recently announced "Django Unchained." Apparently, Tarantino wants Smith for the role and the script has already been delivered to Smith's reps. If Smith accepts, he would be playing the role of Django, a freed slave who becomes an expert bounty hunter under the tutelage of a German mercenary.

Adam Levine's 'American Idol' Crack Doesn't Go Unnoticed: Randy Jackson Fires Back at 'The Voice'
May 06, 2011 @ 3:59 pm PST    American Idol, The Voice     Andy Neuenschwander
I was wondering when and if the "American Idol" folks would respond to Adam Levine's pointed insult on this week's episode of "The Voice." It was quick, and if you weren't paying close attention you might have missed it: after a string of performances for which the judges did not press their buttons and turn their chairs to indicate that they wanted the singers on their teams, Levine noted, "The people that we're not turning our chairs around for could win 'American Idol.'

OPINION: Is Continuing 'The Office' a Bad Idea, or a Really Bad Idea?
May 06, 2011 @ 1:06 pm PST    The Office, The Simpsons, Scrubs     Andy Neuenschwander
This week answered a question that many of us (and many NBC execs) have been asking for a while: how will "The Office" fare once Steve Carell leaves? Answer: not very well. "The Office" dropped 17 percent this week with the first new episode without Michael Scott. The episode received a 3.5 rating with 6.8 million total viewers tuning in. Those aren't bad numbers, but they're a big drop.
