"The X Factor" might have missed the boat snagging Mariah Carey. Not coincidentally, "The X Factor" didn't have "American Idol" judge and previous Carey collaborator Randy Jackson. The multi-Grammy winner is reportedly close to a deal to judge the twelfth season of "Idol" on Fox this fall.

Sympathy and decorum trumped Hollywood business-as-usual decorum this weekend. In a show of solidarity with Warner Bros. following Friday morning's "The Dark Knight Rises" premiere shooting, several major studios have volunteered with withhold reporting their box-office takes until Monday.

The shooting in Colorado is having an effect on "The Dark Knight Rises" screenings nationwide, as theater owners are putting in increased security and banning costumes and certain items from screenings.

The four coaches of NBC's "The Voice" each pack hefty enough chart-topping pedigrees themselves. As if that wouldn't be prestigious enough tutelage, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine have added two hit-making consultants between them with a combined nine Grammy wins.
The Hollywood Reporter (via Billboard) announced Friday that Mary J. Blige and Michael Bublé will join the primetime competition's third season as advisors respectively to Team Levine and Team Shelton.

All things considered, it's been a terrible week for "The Dark Knight Rises." It's the only time in any recent memory when a film has opened to a $27-million opening night that's completely overshadowed by the controversy of immediate prior events.
