In a sense, Saturday's San Diego Comic-Con panel made it official: Zack Snyder and star Henry Cavill have completed "Man of Steel," Warner Bros.' 2013 attempt to reset Superman on solid big-screen ground. Both say that they approached the film with no mind at all to what was established first by Richard Donner in 1978 with the late Christopher Reeve, and ultimately ended in 2006 by Bryan Singer with Brandon Routh.

Sure, it could all be one big, wacky misunderstanding. Or it could be that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively didn't want to deal with a photographer-hounded wedding. Either way, a New York police report may have outed that the "Green Lantern" co-stars are now Man and Wife.

Here we go again. Does every prime-time singing competition show have Mariah Carey on speed-dial at this point? The decorated diva was rumored earlier this year to be in line to join "The X Factor" in one of two vacant judging roles. That never came to pass, but with Steven Tyler and now Jennifer Lopez exiting "American Idol" stage-left, she's once more rumored to be a lady of interest.
