One wonders how this wasn't addressed sooner. With a Tuesday table read scheduled for the upcoming fourth season, the Emmy-collecting adult cast of ABC's "Modern Family" could have the network over a barrel to discuss new deals. None of the six have contracts for the coming season, and rumors have at least five of them wanting an increase into the six-figure range that only Ed O'Neill currently occupies.

A misunderstanding? Perhaps, perhaps not. Either way, in the midst of a debate over public broadcasting funding cuts pushed by congressional Republicans was a bad time for a PBS narrator to get caught with his penis publicly in hand. According to PBS's president, that meant Fred Willard had to be shown the door quickly.

It's been years in start-and-stop development, but there's finally a ballpark time frame: according to producer Frank Marshall, "Jurassic Park 4" can be expected sometime circa 2014. Steven Spielberg won't be back to direct, but it's being written by two writers behind "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes."

Networks have been accommodating a collectively stunned national conscience this weekend, in deference to Friday's tragedy surrounding an Aurora, Colo. "The Dark Knight Rises" premiere. The first programming one would've expected changed has remained steadfast, though. TNT and FX aren't shying from showing Christopher Nolan's previous Batman movies, "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins."
