Presidential campaign strategist David Axelrod - currently assisting with President Barack Obama's re-election effort - has cancelled without explanation an advertised appearance on HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher," reports Deadline today. Another Obama campaign spokesperson said simply that Axelrod "is not scheduled to go on at this time," according to Politico.

Call it backpedaling if you must, but Access Hollywood reports that "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm claims his remarks last week calling Kim Kardashian "stupid" were misunderstood. Recall that Hamm said during an interview with ELLE UK that the reality starlet proves that "stupidity is celebrated" in America. "I think that my quote was a little bit misunderstood," Hamm said at PaleyFest 2012 Tuesday.

Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic haven't escaped the new-deal woods yet, but the superstar center has told his team he'll finish out the season currently on their plate. The Magic had until Thursday afternoon's NBA trade deadline to meet the all'star's swap request, but ESPN.com reports this morning that Howard told ownership and management Tuesday that he'll ride out this season's remainder with the Magic before reconsidering his free-agency options.

Three horses have died and People for the Ethical Treament of Animals now want's HBO's racing drama "Luck" taken behind the barn with a shotgun. Following a third animal fatality during shooting in two seasons, HBO has suspending race-sequence shooting until a full investigation into a horse's injury and eventual euthanasia Tuesday has been completed.
