Funny how a few awards and the right critical acclaim will change people's minds about a course of action. It seems that in this case, even "American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy might've spoken a little bit too soon. Murphy claimed previously that his grim FX would return next season with its freshman cast replaced entirely by new characters. Then legendary actress Jessica Lange won Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe prizes for her performance as kidnapping neighbor Constance Langdon.

Once upon a time, Warner Bros. staked its shiny new tentpole "Harry Potter" franchise upon the then-narrow shoulders of Daniel Radcliffe. Now, Lionsgate has Jennifer Lawrence and "The Hunger Games." If it proves a hit, then Lionsgate had better county many a lucky star March 23 when it hits theaters everywhere in standard and limited-time IMAX formats. Playing heroic Katniss Everdeen nearly wasn't a gig Lawrence wanted at all, she recently told Glamour.

'Twas a colorful visit that Ellen Pompeo made to "Chelsea Lately." Lessons were learned: everything is more fun with more black people around....bartenders take better advantage of drunk patrons than waitresses....but the biggest question asked was this: will Katherine Heigl once more be making rounds on "Grey's Anatomy"?

The week's second "American Idol" performance set Wednesday night could've performed worse, but it wasn't exactly a breakout, either. Wednesday's show - this one, all about the ladies' performances - won FOX this week's Wednesday night crown by drawing 17 million viewers and a 4.9 adult-demographic rating, but that's actually a one-tenth point slip below the Tuesday show's rating featuring the male semifinalists despite getting about 1 million more viewers.
