This doesn't seem like it will go over well at all. Sony has unveiled the Authentication Power Outlet and demonstrated how its device detection can either allow or disallow access to a power supply at the supplier's discretion, reports Geek.com on the device that may have an appeal to public places with high power-usage demands among clients, such as airports.
The first-generation device utilizes an adaptor that communicates between itself and the socket wirelessly using Sony's own FeliCa smart card hardware.

With the "Desperate Housewives" finale looming after eight seasons, former co-star Nicollette Sheridan's wrongful termination suit has likewise been laid to rest - albeit, much less definitively. Being neither a husband nor a father myself, I can't say from experience, but there must be times all the world feels like a dangerous place for an expecting mother-to-be. Jessica Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson certainly might've felt a bit uncomfortable with how close the due-any-moment Simpson came to being felled by an errant tree branch recently, as reported by E! Online today.

Seeing Stephen Amell actually don the Green Arrow duds somehow makes The CW's latest DC Universe endeavor feel that much more....official. Deadline today has the network's first official still hyping "Arrow," the forthcoming origin story-ish pilot spun off from the legendary Emerald Archer's run on "Smallville." David Nutter has his ties to both shows - he was behind the camera for the "Smallville" pilot that led to a 10-season run, and he'll also be directing "Arrow."
