What a way for Sony to start the weekend. The PlayStation makers yesterday reported a $5.7-billion FY2011 loss. That includes every PlayStation console - both hand-helds and the PS3 - posting sales declines. Today, Sony Corporation opened the trading day with shares trading at their lowest since 2008. Shares last started a day this poorly for the electronics brand clear back in 1980, when the Walkman was still new-fangled.

What a memorable way to make a casting announcement. Country Music Hall of Famer Loretta Lynn told a crowd from onstage at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium that she's taking her life's story, "Coal Miner's Daughter", to Broadway. And with that, she introduced the "New Girl" that will fill Sissy Spacek's shoes emulating the Grand Old Opry icon.....

After reading all this, I kind of wish it had been Sarah Palin that had spoken up first, instead of her daughter. Nobody knows all about the sanctity of marriage quite like a 21-year-old unwed mother. Bristol Palin's rambling taking-to-task of President Obama's reversal of course regarding gay marriage had her invoking Obama's kids, "Glee" and Dora the Explorer....in the same amazing blog.

Fighting words? Maybe. With a deal seemingly all but done with pop icon Britney Spears, "The X Factor" seemingly has that pesky judges-wanted SNAFU solved. But there's still the matter of making sure the world knows. To that end, Cowell wouldn't mind making a very special announcement on the stage that started it all: this season's "American Idol" finale.

It's a tad surreal seeing prime time's emcee of romance going through a split after an 18-year marriage. Still, Harrison has some questions he'll answer right off the bat: first and foremost, he won't be going from host of "The Bachelor" to contestant any time soon. Second, from the sounds of it, ladies shouldn't necessarily think the helicopter and limo rides come standard with dating him.

Meet your 2012 MTV Movie Awards host - Russell Brand. The former Mr. Katy Perry last hosted an MTV awards show when he led the 2008 Video Music Awards. This will be his first time hosting the network's big-screen honors. He'll take the stage June 3 in Los Angeles with presenters including Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone and Mark Wahlberg.

Federal and local officials have covered nearly base. George Clooney's home - the site of a $40,000-plate fundraiser for President Obama's re-election campaign - has been effectively sealed off. Security ranges from Secret Service detail, to Los Angeles Police Department both uniformed and plain-clothes personnel with bomb-sniffing dogs, a Counter Terrorist Unit team and air support.
