Hip-hop has lost a creative pioneer. Beastie Boys co-founder Adam Yauch has died after a three-year battle with cancer. Yauch's illness and treatments kept him from attending the trio's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction two weeks ago, alongside classmates such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N' Roses. He was a rapper, filmmaker and activist that helped open the door for white rappers from Vanilla Ice to Eminem.
