Yidio is pleased to announce a new guest column from comedy pro Jeff Ford. A writer, performer and co-founder of pH Productions in Chicago, Jeff tends to spend as much time on-stage performing comedy (NYC Improv Festival, Toronto Improv Festival, Chicago Improv Festival) as he does off-stage writing it.
Jeff found a niche in reviewing ABC Reality Shows ("The Bachelor," "The Bachelorette," " Bachelor Pad") while working with pop-culture snark-site Schadenfreude.
If the schedule of animated feature film releases for Dreamworks has taught us anything, it's that Dreamworks loves sequels. Currently, sequels are planned for "How to Train Your Dragon," "Madagascar," and "Kung Fu Panda," with the "Shrek" spin-off "Puss In Boots" also on the list.
Now it looks like we can add another one to the list, as Dreamworks has begun development on a "Madagascar" spin-off.
It’s a fertile time for reality TV. From new “Top Chef: Masters” and “The Real Housewives of New York City” seasons to the recent kickoffs of “Shark Tank” and "Bethenny Ever After," reality is in full bloom, even after "Jersey Shore" called it a wrap last week. The ever-expanding genre even has its own Expo and Awards show called "Reality Rocks" coming up April 9-10 in L.
What is it about the combination of “morning talk show hosts” and “alcohol segments” that seems so right and so delightfully wrong at the same time?
If we can’t start the day with a wine and food pairing, at least we can watch two women who can - and rightfully, act just as slap-happy as we would ourselves.
Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb let the cork out on “Today,” while enjoying a morning glass of wine on America’s behalf with bestselling food author Gary Vaynerchuck.
The word "reboot" has been tossed around a lot lately, especially as comic book movies have come to the forefront of Hollywood moviemaking. Some were shocked at how quickly the "Spider-Man" franchise was rebooted after Sam Raimi's third film, but Warner Bros. has just put that turnaround to shame.
Jeff Robinov, who is soon to be WB's new president, has announced that there will be a reboot of the "Batman" franchise after Christopher Nolan's third Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises," is completed.
It's just a roller coaster of emotions when it comes to the future of "Mad Men." Season four was, as one has come to expect, awesome, but anticipation for season five was quickly ratcheted down by stories of renogotiations between series creator Matthew Weiner and production company Lionsgate.
And then it got to be where the number one question from the press to anyone on "Mad Men" was "so what are you doing next?" John Slattery was said to be doing some writing.
Britney Spears is on a roll. Following her hot Las Vegas shows at the Palms, the singer hit San Francisco over the weekend to perform a concert that aired on “Good Morning America” Tuesday.
Spears rocked three dynamic numbers from her album “Femme Fatale”: “Hold It Against Me,” “Big Fat Bass” and “Til The World Ends.”
Yes: Britney is back.
Run for your lives, the Kardashians are acting!
Kourtney Kardashian made the jump from "acting" in reality TV to actually acting in soap operas when she appeared in ABC's soap "One Life to Live." On the show, Kourtney took the role of Kassandra Kavanaugh (natch), an ambulance-chasing lawyer who gets into some trouble with her client.
If you saw the behind-the-scenes peek at the filming of the episode on "Kourtney and Kim Take New York," then you know that Kourtney had a hard time memorizing her lines.
If anything, you could always say that Spike TV was a channel that knew what it was and what it had to offer. That might not be the case anymore, as the channel specifically catered toward "guys" aged 18 to 34 wants to expand its audience...and that includes getting women to watch.
It will be a tough transition from Spike's current programming to that which a female audience would want to watch.
