The gender-bending pop artist stayed in character throughout the show, even when accepting an award and singing her new single, in an act that was designed to be deliberately confrontational and a little uncomfortable. Beyonce rocked the red carpet at the the MTV Video Music Awards tonight by showing photographers her new baby bump, and jokingly hinting at the pregnancy. Her reps have confirmed the pregnancy with husband Jay-Z. It's the couple's first child together.

Hurricane Irene made this the second worst weekend of the year, taking an estimated $25 million bucks out of the anticipated receipts. Only the Super Bowl is more disastrous to theater owners.
