Comcast Streaming Service Streampix Takes Aim At Netflix

The latest contender/pretender taking aim at streaming-video giant Netflix? Comcast. Fox News reports today that the Philadelphia-based telecommunications operator has unveiled Xfinity Streampix, a streaming video service launching Thursday that offers a library of movies and TV shows on-demand bundled with some existing Comcast video subscribers' packages, and available to others for $4.

'The Biggest Loser' Contestants Threaten To Quit

If this proves true, then "The Biggest Loser" producers deserve feeling shameful for playing games with people trying to change their lives for the better. CBS News reports today by way of TMZ that that long-running NBC weight-loss reality show's Season 13 contestants may quit the show before season's end after walking completely off the competition. NBC hasn't yet addressed this rumor, but producers allegedly planned luring back past competitors to compete against remaining contestants for this season's $250,000 cash prize.

The Courtney Cox-led comedy drew 4.5 million viewers Tuesday evening, but hit a series-low rating by falling 6 percent to a 1.5 mark among adults age 18-49.

The pre-Grammy buzz alone surrounding 2011 Best New Artist Adele's comeback performance from throat surgery and her six 2012 nominations was enough to rocket her sophomore album 21 to a 20th week ruling over the Billboard 200. Clearly, her six-way sweep didn't hurt her momentum, either. With 21 moving another 730,000 units in the week following her big Grammy night, she's now surpassed the late Whitney Houston's 20 non-consecutive week run atop the Billboard 200 with her 1992 "The Bodyguard" soundtrack and can claim a 21st week atop the chart.
