"American Idol" took a double-digit ratings dip this week, marking the first time this season that NBC's "The Voice" has outpaced it on its respective Monday-night outing. CBS came in a distant second with the second week of the new "Survivor" season. And on NBC, "Rock Center" actually posted a worse rating than a CW show.

Doesn't this usually happen the other way around? Apparently, Paramount Pictures feels that the estate of late The Godfather author Mario Puzo overstepped its bounds and authorized the penning of too many sequels. As it now stands according to Entertainment Weekly, the studio that distributed all the "The Godfather" films by director Francis Ford Coppola is now suing Anthony Puzo and his father's estate to block May's release by Grand Central Publishing of the prequel The Family Corleone.

Depending on the account to be believed, the Academy and Paramount Pictures either don't know what's going on or aren't crazy about the idea.

TBS executives have decided that one good return on investment clearly deserves another. Amid rising ratings, Conan O'Brien has signed a new deal with the basic cable network that will keep his late-night hit "Conan" airing through at least April 2014, reports the New York Daily News today.
