If you check out the list of 2014 Emmy Awards nominations, and look all the way down at the bottom of the list, you'll see a category with a confusing name: "Best Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program."
What the heck does that even mean?
Basically, a short-format program is anything that's not a full half-hour or hour-long show. As a result, you usually only see these nominees in the form of online videos that accompany full shows, as is the case with this year's "Parks & Recreation" nomination.

Overall, the list of nominations for this year's Emmy Awards is encouraging. Gone are most of the crappy network sitcoms (except for one) that gummed up the works and blocked the likes of "Louie" from getting nominated.
However, no matter what, there will always be at least one big snub. This year, that snub is Tatiana Maslany of "Orphan Black." And it's a big one.

It's that time of year again! Time to celebrate over your favorite show's victories or rant at no one in particular over how your favorite show got snubbed.
It's Emmy season.
The nominations were announced this morning by Carson Daly and Mindy Kaling, and while many of the shows are familiar ones on the Emmy lists ("Breaking Bad" or "Mad Men" for example), there are some newcomers like "Orange is the New Black" and "True Detective" making a big splash.

Farrah Abraham, now known to most whether they watched the video or not as Backdoor Teen Mom, has a new venture: She's starting a frozen yogurt shop.
Yes, surprisingly her long-term financial and career goals weren't met by the proceeds of her porn video, or as she would have you believe against all completely obvious evidence to the contrary, her "private sex tape." So now, the girl whom you can see participating in anal sex and handling various bodily fluids through a quick Google search is now going to try to sell you food.

There's been a lot of casting talk concerning "The View," but we're still surprised to hear about this.
Rosie O'Donnell is reportedly considering a return to the show, according to a source close to "The View." The speculation is interesting, considering the fact that Rosie used to be a panelist on the show before exiting about seven years ago after some public verbal sparring matches against then co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

No more teaser trailers!
Marvel has released an extended "Guardians of the Galaxy" trailer, featuring more than two minutes of footage. Not only is it a long trailer, but most of the footage in here is new, never-before-seen stuff.
And it looks goooooood.
The tone changes a bit here to show that, while there will be a lot of laughs and fun in this installment in the Marvel franchise, there's a serious side to it also.

Some shots in "Game of Thrones" require obvious special effects. After all, you can't just go out to Petco and get a dragon.
But others are far more subtle, as this video from CGI effects studio Mackevision shows. The video is essentially a highlight reel of the special effects that the studio did for the show over the fourth season, with a focus on the incredible environments created through VFX.

Ten points to J.K. Rowling!
The "Harry Potter" author has given her fans the gift they thought they'd never get: another story in the Harry Potter universe! Rowling has published a brand-new short story about her internationally famous character on the Pottermore website for fans to read.
The story is one of a series that Rowling has been writing about the Quidditch World Cup, in celebration of the actual World Cup happening in Brazil.
