David Mandel apparently beat out several high-profile writers to pen a remake of the Chevy Chase classic that will probably never happen. This after several other writer/directors have been rumored to be involved in the film. Kevin Smith was going to do it with Jason Lee, and it was going to be the first Miramax franchise. "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence was going to do it with Zach Braff until Braff decided to actually make another movie himself. Other potential stars, including Zach Galifianakis and Jimmy Fallon have been considered at one point or another.

May 20, 2011 @ 6:33 am PST    The Office     Andy Neuenschwander
The news leading into the day of "The Office" season finale indicated that Catherine Tate was the front-runner to replace Steve Carell. Now, the finale has aired. How did it turn out? In short, it didn't. Yes, after an hour-long finale, nothing was totally settled in the search for the new manager of Dunder-Mifflin's Scranton branch. Is James Cameron looking to dethrone himself? Again? In 2010, Cameron's "Avatar" out-earned "Titanic" and became the new record-holder for the top grossing movie of all time. The argument with that title, however, is that "Avatar" was in 3D, and 3D tickets cost more...so does it really deserve to be #1? You'd think that Cameron wouldn't care.

She thought about "Good night and good luck" and "And that's the way it is," and she even considered "You stay classy, San Diego." But eventually, Katie Couric decided that the best way to sign off was to simply say thank you. "In the end, it felt more comfortable and more me to just say, 'Thanks for watching,'" said Couric. "My sign-off won't be in the history books like Walter's, but I'm grateful my 'sign-on' may be."

Here's an interesting predicament, presented to "Glee" star Chris Colfer by Piers Morgan: if you meet politicians that you know have voted against your own personal rights, what do you say to them? After a night of strong performances from the Top 3, it's time to see who goes home. And boy, do I hope it's Lauren or Scotty. Not because I think they did a bad job, but because the horror of an all-country finale makes me want to puncture my own eardrums.
