It's shaping up to be a busy 2012 for The Weinstein Company, but if all goes to plan, two planned sequels could haul some big box office bank.
The biggest news is that "Scary Movie 5" now has an official April 20, 2012 release date, though there's no confirmation yet whether series stars Anna Farris and Regina Hall or director David Zucker will be back.

OK, random odd question: has anyone else but I noticed how often it seems like Michael Caine or Alfred shows up in these "The Dark Knight Rises" reports? Just me? OK, then.

A veteran of HBO's "Entourage" is in full swing trying to bring the colorful true story of cult mixed martial arts figure Kimbo Slice to theaters near us all. Not even the "Sexiest Man Alive" could save a critically panned superhero flick with a relatively unknown hero. Though "Green Lantern" took first place at the box office this weekend, it did so with a much softer opening than expected. The DC Comics movie pulled in an estimated $52.6 million, and while that number could change with a strong Father's Day haul, it's not likely to.

Ryan Murphy popped in on Ryan Seacrest's syndicated radio show recently and discussed how he's approaching the fact that original "Glee" characters Rachel, Finn, Quinn and Puck were all juniors at McKinley High this season and should be set to graduate next year. Have we, perhaps, another "Saved By The Bell" on our hands?

Beefy summer superhero Chris Evans apparently celebrated America's free press recently by canoodling with GQ writer Edith Zimmerman. What was supposed to be a feature interview with the multi-franchise star during shooting of "Captain America: The First Avenger" turned into something a little more in-depth and personal.

Can Tom Cruise sing? Possibly. Can Tom Cruise look like he's absolutely wailing? Absolutely. Check out the first image of Cruise from the upcoming musical "Rock of Ages." In the film, Cruise will play Stacee Jaxx, a fictional rocker who sings some very real songs, including (d'oh) "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."

Well, great. File this item under "D," both for "Del Toro, Guillermo" and "Damn shame."
"Hellboy" creator Mike Mignola recently has seemingly publicly confirmed that Del Toro will never return to direct a third and final installment in Universal Pictures' franchise based on Mignola's Dark Horse Comics series about a demon battling demons.
