July 12, 2011 @ 6:20 am PST    The Dark Knight Rises, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception     Andy Neuenschwander
The first official teaser poster for "The Dark Knight Rises" has hit, and it's unmistakably Christopher Nolan-esque. The poster, which teases the third installment in Nolan's Batman series, has some of the feel of the posters for "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," but also a hint of "Inception." Although, honestly, the "Inception" poster was so similar to the two "Batman" posters that the similarity here is no surprise.

Actress Zooey Deschanel was likely not giggling when she posted to her website "Hello Giggles" to defend herself from an L.A. Times article that called her a "cow." In the Times piece writer Pat Morrison took the "(500) Days of Summer" actress to task for her comments from a recent BAFTA event being attended by British royals Will and Kate. The quote in question revolved around the suitability of Downtown L.A. for hosting the royal couple.

Check Out the 'Jersey Shore' Season Four Cast Portrait; New Episodes Start August 4th
July 11, 2011 @ 2:34 pm PST    Jersey Shore     Richard Sharp
The producers of "Jersey Shore" have done an exceptional job of keeping the cast in the 24 hour-news cycle since they wrapped up season three, and today is no different. First Vinny stormed off and had left the show for good, then he returned. Then The Situation took his turn. The cast has had run-ins with authorities in two different countries, been sued, torn each other apart, even lambada'ed with shrubbery. At least they've had times to snap a picture or two. See the official cast photo for season four here.

James Franco Speaks Candidly About the Oscars: 'I Don't Know Why You Hired Me'
July 11, 2011 @ 11:11 am PST    The Academy Awards, Freaks and Geeks, Knocked Up     Andy Neuenschwander
The Oscars were widely considered to be nothing short of a fiasco this year, but if anyone could have told you beforehand that they weren't going to work, it would be host James Franco. In a recent interview, Franco really opened up about how he felt about the Oscars show at the time, noting that he was really unhappy with the jokes the writers and producers had given him. "In the last week, when we really started focusing on the script for the live show and did a run-through, I said to the producer, 'I don't know why you hired me, because you haven't given me anything,'" said Franco.
