May 09, 2014 @ 12:03 pm PST    Community     Andy Neuenschwander
Looks like #SixSeasonsandaMovie won't be happening. NBC has canceled "Community" according to a report from THR. The show had just completed its fifth season, celebrating a return to form after bringing creator and showrunner Dan Harmon back on board. However, even the return of Harmon couldn't save the series, which has struggled with ratings throughout its run.

Whether you're into cannibalism or lighthearted family comedy, NBC will have you covered for at least one more season. The network has announced a number of renewals, including fan favorite "Hannibal," which will get a third season. The renewal comes thanks to an impressive performance for the show in a Friday time slot on an ailing network: The second season of the show averaged 3.

It's official: "How I Met Your Dad" is a go! The "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff was given a series order today by CBS, as announced by the network. Until this point, the show was only in its pilot stages and had not officially been picked up by CBS, though considering the long-running success of "HIMYM," it was a close to a sure thing as it gets. The show will star indie darling Greta Gerwig as Sally, a girl in her late twenties who will act as our female Ted Moesby.

Somebody Recut 'Frozen' As a Horror Movie and It's Pretty Great
May 08, 2014 @ 4:03 pm PST    Frozen     Andy Neuenschwander
"Do you wanna build a snowman?" has never sounded so creepy. YouTube user Bobby Burns has done the impossible (or at least the unlikely): He took clips from Disney's "Frozen" and edited them together to make it look like a horror movie. You'd be surprised at how much difference some filters and a change in soundtrack makes! The recut trailer has a very "Carrie"-like vibe to it, painting Elsa as an outcast who, rather than going off to live on her own so she doesn't endanger anyone, pretty much does the opposite and starts attacking people.

May 08, 2014 @ 2:50 pm PST    Arrow, The Carrie Diaries, Beauty and the Beast (2012), Hart of Dixie, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Reign, The 100     Andy Neuenschwander
It was both a brutal and a joyous day at The CW today, as the network axed three shows and renewed three more. So, did your favorite CW show make the cut? If you're a sci-fi fan, probably not: "The Tomorrow People" and "Star-Crossed" have officially been canceled. The third show to get the axe was "The Carrie Diaries," which ended its second season in January; the "Sex and the City" prequel pulled in an average of 820,000 viewers per episode.

You might need a chance to catch your breath, movie-wise, this week, but that doesn't mean that you can't go out and catch a new flick. This week's new releases are conspicuously lacking in superheroes and monsters, and this is going to be the only weekend all month when that's true. So if you're tired of CGI chaos, this is the weekend to head to the theater.

New 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Figures Reveal Shredder, Splinter and More
May 07, 2014 @ 4:18 pm PST    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles     Andy Neuenschwander
All of the trailers thus far for Michael Bay's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot have been shy about revealing all of the characters. After all, it was only just a week or so ago that we got a trailer that gave us a good look at all of the turtles, rather than just Michelangelo. And we only barely got a look at Shredder or Splinter. Well, that's changed. But not thanks to a new trailer; rather, it's thanks to the new action figures.

The classic cartoon will be rebooted as a new movie under Warner Bros., and Ferrell is attached to the project. If you're wondering, the answer is no, he won't be playing Fred.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West want to set the record straight: They're not married yet! Kim took to Twitter today to make a number of announcements concerning her wedding, following widespread rumors that she and Kanye had gotten married in a private, secret ceremony over the weekend. "Seeing so many different reports not gonna start disputing them all but a few I want to straighten out," wrote Kim.
