The only confirmed name for Zack Snyder's "Superman" reboot is Henry Cavill, who will be playing the "Man of Steel" himself. But rumored names keep pouring in as casting kicks into high gear for the next movie starring the iconic superhero. The last name we heard being thrown around was Kevin Costner as Jonathan "Pa" Kent. Now Viggo Mortensen is being added to the list of rumored stars.
In the Yidio Oscars Spotlight, we take a look at the key races at this year's Academy Awards. In the Best Supporting Actor category, Christian Bale goes head to head with Geoffrey Rush, while John Hawkes lingers on the edges as a possible sleeper.
Past Winners
Christoph Waltz, who will appear in the new Robert Pattinson film "Water for Elephants," won last year for his supremely calloused and creepy protrayal of Nazi commander Colonel Hans Lanza in the Quentin Tarantino-directed "Inglorious Basterds.
Every year we watch the Oscars and, even being the ridiculous pop culture nutcases we are, there are always a few films we haven’t seen, and a few categories we don’t quite have a grasp on at the Academy Awards every year.
If that sounds like you, you’re in luck.
Yidio has created a handy-dandy cheat sheet, with detailed info on each of the films nominated for Best Picture, as well as roundups of the competition on each of the major award areas.
Looks like Taylor Swift can't get enough Gleek!
Last night Swift and "Glee" hottie Chord Overstreet took in an L.A. King's hockey match and fueled the good ol' rumor mill.
Both blondies are from Nashville, TN and have a set of golden pipes to match their good looks.
Making sweet harmony?
An insider tells UsMagazine.com that Swift made the first move.
Minnie Driver hasn’t been seen in public much since the birth of her son in August of 2008.
Sure, she’s made some guest appearances on a couple of TV shows (including "Modern Family") and filmed the movie "Conviction," but she has not been nearly as busy in the acting world since becoming a mom. Now, she seems to be getting both her feet wet with a return to TV.
I guess Isaiah Mustafa IS the man Kathy Griffin wants her man to smell like..
A source tells UsMagazine.com, "They are not boyfriend/girlfriend but they are definitely spending time together and getting to know each other."
The relationship can be traced back to late September when Kathy tweeted a picture of the duo embracing, saying he's "super hot."
More recently the two have been seen around Hollywood and they shared intimate moments at the Costume Designers Guild Awards, whispering and smooching.
It's looks like "The Biggest Loser" is a big winner.
After a terrific year in the ratings, the NBC reality show about helping people lose weight has been renewed for a season 12.
The show joins "Who Do You Think You Are?" and singing competition "The Sing-off" as part of a new crew of what NBC Entertainment Division Bob Greenblatt called "bona fide hits.
In Yidio's Academy Awards Best Picture Focus section, we take an in-depth look at all 10 films nominated for the 2011 Oscar. Today we take a look at Darren Aronofsky's dark, brooding and at times slightly insane melodrama "Black Swan."
About the Film
Although it takes place in a New York ballet company, "Black Swan" is not a film about ballet.
Ricky Gervais wasn't hired to write for the Oscars, but that doesn't mean he won't do it anyway.
In a post on his blog today, Gervais offered a full write-up for the opening of the 83rd Academy Awards on Sunday, just in case hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway end up with "a few minutes to fill". If you were at all offended by the inappropriate (but darned funny) jokes that Gervais dropped during the Golden Globes, then this script will really get you in a huff.
