The Internet has lost an infamous creator. TMZ reports that Jim Paratore, the site's co-founder, has died during a vacation in France. A one-time Warner Bros. executive, Paratore was also instrumental in keeping Ellen DeGeneres in the television spotlight after recognizing her talent. In addition to championing her syndicated daytime talk show, he was also at various points attached to "The Bachelor," "The People's Court" and "Judge Mathis."

There's only one true bright spot on this week's iTunes chart quality-wise, and it's a quirky indie singer-songwriter. Elsewhere, Pitbull makes me miss Will Smith. Adam Levine makes wonder how one calls what he does "singing." And I continue marveling that so many people like "Call Me Maybe."

Welcome to a new arena, History Channel. Monday night's "Hatfields & McCoys" premiere came very well-hyped. It didn't let anybody down. The three-part miniseries starring Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton made cable history with gigantic ratings last night.

It was just Sunday that Justin Bieber reportedly roughed up a photographer at a California shopping center, but the case has already been kicked to prosecutors. The investigation is thus far ongoing. But if convicted, Bieber could face up to six months in jail. Yes, it's perfectly OK to laugh at the assertion he'd serve the whole thing.
