In the first episode of W.I.T.C.H. season 1, titled "It Begins," we are introduced to the five main characters: Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin. These girls, who attend the same high school and are part of the same friend group, are brought together as part of a magical destiny to protect the world from evil.

As the episode begins, we see Will struggling to fit in at school and feeling like she doesn't belong. She has a vivid dream where she sees a mysterious emblem and hears a voice telling her she is the "keeper of the heart." The next day, when she arrives at school, she discovers that her classmates Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin have all had the same dream. They soon learn that they are part of a group of guardians called W.I.T.C.H. who have been chosen to fight against the evil forces led by an entity known as the "Heart of Meridian."

The girls are each given a unique power, which they must learn to control and use effectively. Will is given the power of telekinesis, Irma can control water, Taranee has control over fire, Cornelia has the power of earth, and Hay Lin can control air. They are then transported to the magical world of Metamoor, where they meet a creature named Orube who tells them more about their mission and the danger they face.

As they begin their training, the girls struggle to work together and trust each other. Will, who has been named the leader of the group, has a particularly hard time accepting her role and navigating the complexities of being a team player. However, as they face their first challenge and encounter one of the minions of the Heart of Meridian, they begin to realize the importance of working together and using their powers for the greater good.

Throughout the episode, we also get glimpses of the personal lives of each girl. Will is dealing with the recent departure of her mother and the strain it has put on her relationship with her father. Irma has a crush on a boy at school and is trying to balance her feelings with her duties as a guardian. Taranee is struggling with her powers and the fear of being seen as "different." Cornelia is dealing with the pressures of being a popular girl at school and the weight of her responsibilities as a W.I.T.C.H. guardian. Finally, Hay Lin is grappling with being considered "weird" for her unique abilities and her desire to find her own identity.

The episode ends with the girls returning to their own world, with a newfound understanding of their powers and their role as guardians. They know that they face a difficult and dangerous mission, but they are determined to work together and protect the world from evil.

Overall, "It Begins" is a strong start to the series, introducing the characters and their world while setting up the overarching conflict of the show. It also touches on themes of coming of age, friendship, and the importance of teamwork. Fans of magical girl anime and coming-of-age stories will enjoy watching the journey of these five girls as they navigate their powers and their personal lives.
