Under the Power is a Chinese period drama television series. The show is set during the Ming dynasty and follows the story of two individuals, a government official and a constable, as they work together to solve a series of crimes and conspiracies. Season 1 episode 2 starts off with the aftermath of the previous episode's events.
The episode begins with our two protagonists, Liu Yi Jun and Zhou Fei, investigating a robbery that took place at a pawnshop. The pawnshop owner, who is also a witness to the crime, provides them with a suspect. They then go to the suspect's home to find evidence. However, the suspect's wife confronts them and claims that her husband is innocent. Liu Yi Jun and Zhou Fei then decide to investigate further.
Meanwhile, we get to know more about our protagonists. Liu Yi Jun is shown to be a stern and serious person who follows the law to the letter. He is also shown to have a complicated past which seems to haunt him. Zhou Fei, on the other hand, is shown to be a skilled martial artist who is not afraid of breaking the rules to get the job done. She is also shown to be kind-hearted and cares deeply for her sister, who is under the protection of a powerful man.
As the investigation progresses, our protagonists uncover a bigger conspiracy involving the local government officials and the pawnshop owner. They discover that the robbery was staged to frame the suspect and that the pawnshop owner is involved in illegal activities. The episode then ends with our protagonists confronting the pawnshop owner and the corrupt officials.
Overall, Under the Power season 1 episode 2 is a well-crafted episode that builds upon the foundations set by the previous episode. The characters are fleshed out further, and the plot thickens as our protagonists uncover a bigger conspiracy. The writing is excellent, and the pacing is just right. If you are a fan of period dramas, then you should definitely give Under the Power a try.
