Kara Danvers, a.k.a. Supergirl, is back in the action with a new season and a new episode named "The Faithful." The episode opens with a group of people wearing strange cloaks and helmets as they watch a ritual being performed. The leader of the group welcomes them and proceeds to address them about their faith in Supergirl. The scene then cuts to Kara, who is having a coffee with Lena Luthor. As the two friends are chatting, Kara receives a call from J'onn. He asks her to come to the DEO as soon as possible.
When Kara reaches the DEO, she is informed about the mysterious cult that has appeared in the city. The cultists are claiming that they have been saved by Supergirl, and now they worship her as a deity. These individuals are committing crimes in the name of Supergirl and believe that Kara is their savior. However, Kara finds it hard to believe that people could worship her as a god-like figure. J'onn is concerned about this new development, as it could lead to dangerous consequences if this cult gains any more power.
As Supergirl, Kara decides to investigate the cult and stop them from doing any more harm. Meanwhile, Sam, who has been working with Lena, is dealing with her own issues. She has been having nightmares about a woman who tells her that she has to leave her life behind and embrace a new destiny. These dreams are becoming more frequent, and Sam is starting to get worried. Lena assures her that it's nothing serious, but Sam can't shake off the feeling that something is wrong.
As Kara investigates the cult, she meets a man named Thomas Coville, who seems to be the leader of the group. Coville tells Kara that he was saved by her when he was in a plane crash several years ago. This event changed his life, and he became a devout follower of Supergirl. Kara is intrigued by Coville's story and tries to understand why he and his followers believe that she is a deity. However, her conversation with Coville is cut short when the cultists attack the city once again.
Kara and Mon-El, who has returned from the future to help her, try to stop the cult from causing any more destruction. However, they soon realize that the cultists are not just ordinary people. They seem to have some kind of enhanced abilities, which make them harder to defeat. Kara is shocked to see that they are using her symbol as a shield, and their devotion to her seems to be giving them some kind of supernatural strength.
Kara and Mon-El barely manage to stop the cultists and bring them back to the DEO. There, they find out that Coville has some kind of Kryptonian knowledge, which he has been using to enhance his abilities and those of his followers. The knowledge comes from a holy book that he claims was sent down to him by Supergirl herself. Kara is horrified to learn that someone has been using her name and image to manipulate innocent people.
As Sam tries to deal with her nightmares, she realizes that the woman she has been dreaming about is Reign, a Kryptonian Worldkiller who was sent to Earth with her. Sam is scared that Reign is coming back and that she will lose control over her powers. Lena tries to reassure her and tells her that they will do everything they can to prevent anything bad from happening.
The episode ends with Supergirl confronting Coville and telling him that he has been using her name in vain. She warns him that he should stop his cult before it's too late. However, Coville doesn't seem to be afraid of her and tells her that he is doing what he was sent to do. Kara is left wondering what this means and if there is something more to Coville's story. The Faithful marks a powerful episode in the season, which keeps viewers on the edge of their seat with the twists and developments throughout.
