Supergirl season 3 episode 16, titled "Of Two Minds", follows Kara Danvers as she tries to stop a new villain named Pestilence from wreaking havoc on National City. Meanwhile, Lena Luthor works on a cure for Sam and her alter ego, Reign.
The episode begins with Imra and Mon-El visiting the DEO to warn them about Pestilence - a Worldkiller who is prophesized to be the deadliest of them all. They explain that in their future timeline, Pestilence is responsible for killing millions of people and causing the downfall of civilization. The team is understandably worried, especially since they haven't had much luck with the other two Worldkillers.
Kara decides to investigate and we see her use her reporting skills to find out more about Pestilence. She discovers that she was once a brilliant scientist named Dr. Grace Parker, who was working at a research facility that was experimenting with a new virus. One day, while handling the virus, she was exposed to some kind of energy that transformed her into Pestilence. Now, she's on a mission to spread disease and destruction wherever she goes.
Kara tries to track down Dr. Parker but it's not easy. She's hidden herself away in a remote part of the country and is very guarded. Kara convinces her to let her into her lab to try and find a weakness in the virus. While there, she discovers that Dr. Parker is actually a good person who is struggling with the darkness inside her. It's an interesting dynamic and one that's not often explored on the show.
As Kara tries to convince Dr. Parker to help them stop Pestilence, Lena is working on a cure for Sam. She's been working on this for a while and has finally found a breakthrough. However, when she tests it on Sam, it doesn't work. Lena is devastated and tries to figure out what went wrong.
The episode then takes an interesting turn as we see Kara and Lena talk about their respective struggles - Kara with trying to stop Pestilence and Lena with saving Sam. Lena is frustrated that she can't find a cure and Kara feels like she's failing in her mission. They both share a moment of vulnerability and it's a nice break from the action and superheroics.
Meanwhile, Pestilence is wreaking havoc on the city, infecting people left and right. The team comes up with a plan to trap her in a containment field and they're successful. However, Imra reveals that in her timeline, Pestilence transforms into the even deadlier Blight. They're not out of the woods yet.
Kara and Lena continue to work on their respective problems and by the end of the episode, both make some progress. Lena figures out why the cure didn't work and Kara is able to convince Dr. Parker to help them stop Pestilence before it's too late.
Overall, Supergirl season 3 episode 16 is an exciting and emotional episode that explores some interesting themes. The Pestilence storyline is gripping and the interactions between Kara and Lena are always a highlight of the show. It sets up some interesting storylines for the rest of the season and leaves viewers eager to see what comes next.
