Ep 1. The Adventures of Supergirl

Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) is back as Supergirl, and with the help of her adopted sister Alex (Chyler Leigh), she's as ready as ever to tackle the dangerous threats that come her way. In the first episode of season two, titled "The Adventures of Supergirl," the Girl of Steel faces off against a powerful new villain, as well as some unexpected changes in her personal life.

The episode opens with Supergirl saving a group of workers from an industrial accident, but as she flies off to continue her good work, she starts to feel as if something is missing. When she returns to her day job as a reporter at CatCo Worldwide Media, she's surprised to find out that her boss, Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), is leaving the company to pursue other interests. With Cat gone, Kara finds herself struggling to find her place in the company and in the world.

Meanwhile, Alex is dealing with some personal issues of her own, as she discovers that her feelings for a fellow agent at the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO) might be more than just professional. With all of these changes happening in their lives, Kara and Alex find comfort in knowing that they can always count on each other no matter what.

As if dealing with these personal issues weren't enough, Supergirl soon finds herself facing off against a new villain: the ill-tempered and powerful Metallo (Frederick Schmidt), who has been created by Cadmus, a nefarious organization determined to rid the world of all alien life. With Metallo wreaking havoc on the city, Supergirl must use all of her strength and cunning to defeat him before it's too late.

In the midst of all this chaos, Supergirl also finds herself forming a new bond with a mysterious figure who has the power to fly and emit heat vision, much like her. Although they start off on the wrong foot, Supergirl soon realizes that this new ally just might be the key to unlocking some of the secrets of her own powers.

As the episode comes to a close, Supergirl is faced with even more surprises, including the return of her cousin, Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), who has come to National City to help her with her ongoing battle against Cadmus. With her personal and professional lives in flux, and a new enemy on the horizon, Supergirl will need all of her strength and courage to face the challenges that lie ahead.
