Lee and Lucy decide to take the boat that Lee inherited from his father, The Sea Bandit, out for a spin. However, things quickly go awry when they discover they have accidentally set sail with several unwanted guests.
Firstly, Toby shows up unannounced, looking for a place to crash for the night. Then, Lucy's friend Anna and her husband Peter also unexpectedly show up on the boat, looking for a romantic getaway. Finally, Lee's nemesis and former roommate Guy also stumbles on board.
As tensions rise and old grudges resurface, Lee and Lucy try to keep the peace and maintain their composure. However, their efforts are constantly thwarted by the chaotic and cramped quarters of the boat, as well as the various personalities of their guests.
The group's situation only gets worse when they find themselves stranded at sea after the boat runs out of fuel. As they try to come up with a plan to get back to shore, frustrations and tempers continue to flare.
However, as the group begins to work together to solve their predicament, they start to let down their guards and open up to each other about their personal struggles and insecurities. In the end, the unexpected adventure brings them closer together and teaches them valuable lessons about communication and empathy.
As they finally make their way back to shore, Lee and Lucy reflect on the unpredictability of life and the importance of cherishing the people who matter most to them.
The episode is full of hilarious and heartwarming moments, as well as plenty of hijinks and mishaps on the boat. Fans of the show will love seeing their favorite characters in such a unique and challenging setting, while newcomers will appreciate the clever writing and witty humor that Not Going Out is known for.
