Not Going Out is a British television sitcom that premiered on BBC One on 6 October 2006. The show follows the lives of a group of friends living in London. The main character, Lee Mack, known simply as Lee, is a writer who lives in a flat with his best mate, Tim, played by Tim Vine. The two have been friends since childhood and enjoy winding each other up. Lee is also hopelessly in love with his best friend's sister, Lucy, played by Megan Dodds.

The show's first season consists of six episodes and its popularity quickly grew, leading to nine more seasons being made.

The show is filled with awkward moments and comedic situations. Lee's attempts to woo Lucy are always thwarted by her reluctance to date her brother's best friend. Meanwhile, Tim constantly tries to flirt with Lucy, who is oblivious to his advances.

Miranda Hart joins the cast in season two as Barbara, the cleaner who is constantly getting in the way of Lee and Tim's plans. Her character's comedic timing and zany personality make her a fan favorite.

The show also introduces Sally Bretton as Kate, an old flame of Lee's who returns to London after years of travelling. Her arrival causes tension between Lee and Lucy, who are still struggling with their feelings for each other.

Simon Dutton plays Guy, Lucy's ex-boyfriend who is constantly trying to get her back. His character is seen as a threat to Lee's chances with Lucy and adds another layer of tension to the show.

Katy Wix joins the cast in season five as Daisy, a new friend of Lucy's who is just as quirky as Barbara. Her character adds a new dynamic to the show and brings more laughs to the already hilarious cast.

The show's writing is clever and witty, with each character bringing their own unique personality to the group. Lee's sarcastic humor is balanced out by Tim's naive charm and Lucy's sweet nature.

Not Going Out is a lighthearted show that is perfect for those that enjoy easy humor and situational comedy. The characters are relatable and the show's writing keeps the audience engaged, making it a must-watch for anyone who enjoys British comedy.

Not Going Out is a series that is currently running and has 6 seasons (42 episodes). The series first aired on October 5, 2006.
