However, when Macarena discovers something surprising about Fabio, it throws everything into question, and she must decide whom to trust while navigating her way through the treacherous waters of prison life.
The plight of Ruth, a young and vulnerable prisoner, takes center stage in this episode. Ruth has been living in poverty her whole life, and the circumstances that led to her imprisonment reflect that. The prison counselor realizes that Ruth is having a tough time and wants to offer her support, but the scared and mistrustful Ruth struggles to open up. The despair and hopelessness of life behind bars are brilliantly portrayed in this storyline, and viewers can't help but feel empathy for Ruth.
The episode also sees the return of Goya, who is now suffering from a debilitating illness. Goya has been a mother figure for many of the inmates, and her illness is taking an emotional toll on everyone, particularly on Saray, who must grapple with the prospect of losing another loved one.
One of the main themes of this episode is power play. Whether it's the struggle for dominance between inmates or the prison authorities' attempts to reassert control over the inmates, there is a constant battle for power. The writers do an excellent job of depicting the balance of power between the inmates, with alliances constantly shifting, and loyalties tested.

With its honest portrayal of the complex lives of women in prison, it's no wonder Locked Up has established itself as one of the most popular Spanish television dramas.
