Kick Buttowski is going through some ups and downs as he navigates the complexities of his life in the show's 12th season. In the first part of this episode entitled "For the Love of Gunther," Kick is dealing with the fact that his best friend Gunther has gotten a new girlfriend. Kick is initially excited for Gunther when he tells him about his new relationship, but that excitement quickly turns to jealousy as Gunther's girlfriend seems to be taking up all of his time.

Kick decides that he needs to make some changes in his own life to fill the void left by Gunther's girlfriend. He tries to convince his sister Brianna to become his new best friend, but she's not interested. Kick then decides to try and make some new friends by joining a group of girls who are into extreme sports, but he quickly discovers that they're not as hardcore as they appear to be.

Meanwhile, Gunther is having some problems of his own as his new girlfriend starts to become possessive. She doesn't like it when Gunther spends time with his friends and she insists on going to all of his extreme sports events with him, even though she's not very skilled in any of the activities. Ultimately, Gunther has to decide whether he's willing to give up his friendships for his new girlfriend.

The second part of the episode entitled "Father From the Truth" delves into Kick's relationship with his dad. Kick has always looked up to his dad as his hero, but he starts to question his father's past and whether or not he's been honest with him. Kick discovers an old yearbook of his dad's and realizes that his father had a different name when he was in high school.

Kick confronts his dad about his past and learns some startling information about his father's college years. Kick's dad reveals that he was more of a rebel than a hero back in his youth and he even dropped out of college. Kick struggles with the realization that his dad isn't the perfect hero he thought he was and starts to question his own identity as a result.
