In season 2 episode 14 of Everybody Hates Chris, titled "Everybody Hates the Substitute," Chris must deal with a substitute teacher who is not quite up to par. The episode revolves around Chris' attempts to get through the day despite the substitute's lack of control over the classroom.
Chris and his best friend Greg are excited for their science class with Ms. Morello, but quickly become disappointed when they realize she is absent for the day. Their joy turns to dread as they realize their substitute teacher, Mr. Looney, is completely clueless about the material and has no control over the class.
Mr. Looney is easily distracted, frequently forgetting what he is supposed to be teaching and often going off on tangents about his own personal life. He also lets the class get completely out of control, allowing students to throw things and climb on desks.
Chris, who is already struggling with the class, is further frustrated when he is mistakenly blamed for one of the disruptions and sent to the principal's office. He spends the rest of the day trying to avoid Mr. Looney's chaos and focusing on his own studies.
Meanwhile, Chris' little brother Drew is dealing with his own substitute teacher issues. His teacher, Ms. Sheffied, is overly strict and often punishes the entire class for the actions of one or two students. Drew, who is normally a good student, is singled out and given detention for something he didn't even do.
Back in Chris' class, things continue to go awry as Mr. Looney attempts to hand out a pop quiz that nobody is prepared for. Chris, however, manages to use his quick thinking and knowledge of the material to help the class pass the quiz.
In the end, Mr. Looney is fired and Chris is able to return to his regular class with Ms. Morello. Drew also gets his own revenge on Ms. Sheffied by playing a prank on her.
Overall, "Everybody Hates the Substitute" is a funny and relatable episode that showcases the struggles of dealing with ineffective teachers. It also highlights Chris' resilience and intelligence as he navigates through a difficult situation.
