Wang Yu, Seung-nyang’s former love interest, also returns to the court, making things more complicated for her.

As the episode progresses, Seung-nyang and Ta-hwan attend a play where they witness a masked actor performing. The masked actor is none other than Wang Yu, who reveals himself to Seung-nyang. The two converse after the performance, where Wang Yu pledges his support to Seung-nyang against El Temur.

The episode then shifts its focus to personal relationships as Seung-nyang, Ta-hwan, and Wang Yu confront their feelings for one another. Ta-hwan confesses his love for Seung-nyang, but she is unable to reciprocate his feelings, knowing that her true love lies with Wang Yu. However, Wang Yu is hesitant to rekindle their romance, knowing that it would complicate the already complex political situation.

Back at the palace, Tanashiri’s scheming continues, as she attempts to turn Ta-hwan against Seung-nyang by revealing her true identity as a woman. Ta-hwan confronts Seung-nyang about this, but is ultimately convinced of her loyalty to him and the empire. With Ta-hwan and Seung-nyang’s relationship back on track, they prepare to face El Temur and his attempts to overthrow them.

The episode ends with El Temur making his move, as he captures Ta-hwan and prepares to remove him from power. Seung-nyang and Wang Yu team up to try and rescue Ta-hwan, setting up the stage for an intense and action-packed episode 14.

Overall, Empress Ki season 1 episode 13 is a compelling episode that combines political intrigue with personal relationships. As the story continues to evolve, the stakes get higher, making for an entertaining and dramatic viewing experience.
