In season 44, episode 9 of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, host Guy Fieri takes viewers on a journey to explore some of the best burgers, bowls, and bangers the country has to offer.
The episode starts at The Cozy Inn in Salina, Kansas, a small diner that's been serving sliders since 1922. Fieri talks to the current owner and samples their famous sliders, which have been featured on the Food Network before. Next, he heads to San Diego to try some unique and healthy bowls at Fairouz Cafe & Gallery. Fieri meets the owner, who explains how they focus on using fresh, local ingredients to create their dishes. Fieri samples their falafel bowl and a seafood bowl, both of which have colorful and flavorful ingredients.
The next stop takes Fieri to The Burger Dive in Billings, Montana. The owner, who has a background in fine dining, shows Fieri how they make their burgers from scratch using high-quality ingredients. Fieri tries a burger called the "Sweet & Sassy," which has bacon, jalapenos, cream cheese, and raspberry jam. He also tries a burger topped with mac and cheese.
In Portland, Oregon, Fieri visits Hazelfern Cellars, a winery that also serves elevated hot dogs called "bangers." The owner takes Fieri on a tour of the winery before explaining how they make their bangers using pork from a local farm. Fieri tries the "PB&J" dog, which has peanut butter, grape jelly, and bacon, as well as a spicy jalapeno dog.
The episode then takes viewers to Louisville, Kentucky, to a restaurant called The Joy Luck, which serves a fusion of Chinese and Southern cuisine. Fieri talks to the owner and chef, who explains how they incorporate ingredients like bourbon and hot chicken into traditional Chinese dishes. Fieri tries their beef noodle soup, hot chicken bao, and bourbon pork belly.
Finally, Fieri visits a seafood restaurant called Salt Box in Seattle, Washington. The owner takes Fieri on a boat ride to show him where they source their seafood before heading back to the restaurant to try their dishes. Fieri samples their smoked salmon dip, lobster mac and cheese, and clam chowder.
Throughout the episode, Fieri emphasizes the importance of using fresh and high-quality ingredients in creating delicious and unique dishes. From classic sliders to fusion hot dogs, each stop offers something new and exciting for viewers to try.
