Guy Fieri is back with another episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and this time, it's all about satisfying your sweet tooth. In episode 6 of season 33, appropriately titled Something Sweet, Guy travels across America to discover the best desserts and sweet treats that local eateries have to offer.
The first stop on Guy's sweet journey takes him to Kansas City, where he visits a local bakery that specializes in apple cider donuts. The smell of freshly baked donuts fills the air as Guy meets with the owner and learns about the history of the bakery. He watches as the donuts are made from scratch, coated with cinnamon-sugar, and served warm. Guy takes a bite of one of the donuts and savors the crispy outside and soft, cakey interior.
Next, Guy heads down to St. Petersburg, Florida, to try out a unique twist on the classic banana split. At this local ice cream shop, Guy meets with the owner, who shows him how they make their homemade ice cream flavors that range from sweet and simple to bold and adventurous. Guy then helps put together their signature "Panther Paws" sundae, which includes layers of brownie chunks, bananas, and hot fudge, all topped with a mountain of whipped cream and a cherry.
In Nashville, Tennessee, Guy visits a family-owned Mexican restaurant that has been serving up traditional churros for over 20 years. The owner shows Guy how they fry the dough until it's crispy and golden brown before rolling it in cinnamon-sugar and serving it with a side of chocolate sauce. After taking a bite, Guy declares that this is "the best churro I've ever had."
Moving on to Austin, Texas, Guy stops by a funky little food trailer that serves up a unique dessert taco. The owner stuffs a fried flour tortilla with homemade pumpkin pie filling, whipped cream, and candied pecans before topping it off with a drizzle of caramel sauce. Guy can barely contain his excitement as he takes a bite out of this unusual but delicious dessert creation.
Finally, Guy ends his sweet adventure in Napa Valley, California, where he visits a bakery that specializes in artisanal pies. The owner shows Guy how they make their signature blackberry pie from scratch, using only fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Guy gets a behind-the-scenes look at the baking process and can't resist taking a slice of the freshly baked pie for himself.
Throughout the episode, Guy meets with passionate culinary artisans who put their heart and soul into creating some of the most delicious, innovative, and indulgent sweet treats around. Whether you prefer classic favorites like donuts and churros or more creative concoctions like dessert tacos and artisanal pies, Something Sweet has something for every sweet tooth.
