In this episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, host Guy Fieri travels to Alaska to explore the unique tastes and flavors of the last frontier. First up, Guy visits a family-owned spot in Anchorage that serves up authentic Filipino cuisine, including pork adobo and pancit noodles.
Next, Guy heads to Homer, a small town on the coast, to check out a restaurant that specializes in fresh seafood caught right off the coast. He tries the halibut tacos and the crab bisque, and even takes a trip out on a fishing boat to see where the ingredients come from.
In Talkeetna, a charming town near Denali National Park, Guy checks out a bakery that's been around for over 20 years. He samples their signature "sourdough pancake sandwich" filled with eggs, cheese, and bacon, and moves on to their famous "Denali cookie" made with oats, macadamia nuts, and white chocolate.
At a meat processing plant in Sutton, Guy meets a family that hunts and processes their own meat, including reindeer and elk. He tries their reindeer sausage and elk burgers, and learns about the sustainable and ethical way they source their ingredients.
Finally, Guy visits a restaurant in Fairbanks that serves up giant burgers and over-the-top milkshakes. He tastes their "Bush Burger" made with buffalo meat and topped with bacon and jalapeno jelly, and tries their "Arctic Thunder" milkshake filled with blackberries, caramel, and Oreos.
Throughout the episode, Guy showcases the local ingredients and innovative cooking techniques that make Alaska a unique and exciting culinary destination.
