After 28 seasons, Guy Fieri's popular show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" (DDD) continues to take viewers on a gastronomic journey across the United States. In the 21st episode of the 28th season, titled "Grab and Grub," Fieri visits three different restaurants that specialize in quick and tasty meals, perfect for grabbing on the go.
In the first segment, Fieri heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma to check out a joint called "Big Daddy's All-American Bar-B-Que." This family-run establishment has been serving up some of the best barbecue in the area for years. Fieri chats with the owner, Wayne, who shares the story of how he and his wife started the restaurant and perfected their barbecue recipes over time. Fieri samples some of their signature dishes, such as the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. He also tries the smoked mac and cheese, a unique twist on a classic dish. Lastly, Fieri ends his visit by taste-testing the restaurant's homemade banana pudding.
Next, Fieri heads to Indianapolis, Indiana to visit "The Tamale Place." This casual eatery offers authentic Mexican tamales and other traditional dishes. Fieri learns about the history of the restaurant and the family who runs it. He then samples some delicious tamales, both sweet and savory. Fieri also tries the restaurant's chicken mole, which he describes as "next-level." Lastly, Fieri finishes off his visit with a mini cherry empanada and a glass of horchata, a sweet Mexican rice milk drink.
In the final segment of the episode, Fieri travels to Eugene, Oregon to check out "Bao Bao House," a restaurant specializing in Chinese-style bao buns. He talks to the owner, Jenny, who shares her story of how she started the business after years of making bao buns for friends and family. Fieri samples a few different types of bao buns, including the classic BBQ pork and the vegetarian mushroom and tofu. He also tries the restaurant's popular fried rice and kimchi, a spicy fermented Korean side dish. Lastly, Fieri finishes off his visit with a dessert bao filled with sweet red bean paste.
Throughout the episode, Fieri showcases his enthusiasm for food while highlighting the unique stories and backgrounds of each restaurant and its owners. He also emphasizes the importance of quick and easy meals that can be enjoyed on the go, which is especially relevant in today's fast-paced world.
As always, Fieri provides an entertaining and informative look into some of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants across the country. Whether viewers are looking for barbecue, tamales, or bao buns, this episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives has something for everyone.
