In season 2 episode 10 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, host Guy Fieri takes us on a culinary road trip to explore 24-hour diners and restaurants that never close. This episode is aptly named "Open 24/7" and features four different eateries from across the United States that are always open, serving up delicious food to hungry patrons at any hour of the day.
The first stop is in New York City at the Tick Tock Diner, which has been open 24/7 since 1948. Guy meets with the owner, who shares the history of the restaurant and how it has stayed popular over the years. The Tick Tock Diner boasts a huge menu with something for everyone, from classic diner fare like pancakes and burgers to more unique offerings like lobster mac and cheese and Korean short ribs. Guy samples a few dishes, including the diner's signature breakfast sandwich.
Next, Guy heads to Atlanta, Georgia, to visit the Majestic Diner. This iconic diner has been open since 1929 and is famous for its classic diner decor and menu. The Majestic serves up all the diner favorites, from milkshakes and burgers to meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Guy tries the diner's famous corned beef hash and eggs, which he says is some of the best he's ever had.
The third stop on this episode's journey is in Denver, Colorado, at Pete's Kitchen. This family-owned diner has been open 24/7 since the 1960s and is a favorite late-night spot for locals and tourists alike. Pete's Kitchen serves up classic Greek and American diner fare, with everything from gyros and spanakopita to pancakes and omelets. Guy tries the homemade green chili, which is a spicy and flavorful staple at Pete's.
Finally, Guy heads to San Francisco, California, to visit Sparky's 24 Hour Diner. This diner has a funky, retro vibe and serves up classic diner food with a modern twist. Guy meets with the owner, who shares the story behind the diner's name. Sparky was the owner's dog, and the diner is a tribute to him. Guy tries a few dishes at Sparky's, including the "Hangover Burger," which is piled high with bacon, cheese, and a fried egg.
Throughout this episode, Guy talks to the owners and staff at each of these 24-hour diners, learning about their history, specialties, and loyal customers. These diners are not just places to grab a bite to eat; they are institutions in their communities, serving up food and hospitality around the clock. Whether you're a night owl in search of a midnight snack or an early bird looking for a hearty breakfast, these diners are always open and ready to serve.
