Guy Fieri is back on the road, looking for some of the best and most unique diners, drive-ins and dives across America. In the first episode of season 2, he is on a mission to find the restaurants that have mastered the art of frying.
First stop is in San Francisco, California at the Front Porch, where they specialize in southern-style comfort food. Guy tries the fried chicken and waffles, which is a delicious combination of crispy chicken and fluffy waffles topped with bacon and maple syrup. He also samples the fried catfish and hushpuppies, which are golden brown and crispy on the outside, but tender and moist on the inside.
Next, Guy heads down to San Diego, where he discovers a unique food truck called Mariscos El Pescador. This Mexican seafood truck is famous for its Tostada Mixta, which is a crispy tostada topped with a combination of seafood including shrimp, octopus, and snail. The dish is finished off with fresh vegetables and a squeeze of lime.
After that, Guy travels to Springfield, Illinois and visits Charlie Parker's Diner. This classic American diner has been serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner since 1990. Guy is blown away by their Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, which is a massive sandwich featuring a huge tenderloin patty that is breaded and fried to perfection.
Next on the list is in Baltimore, Maryland at the Chaps Pit Beef. This roadside eatery is famous for its pit beef, which is slow-roasted to perfection and then sliced thin. They also serve up crispy fries and onion rings, which are fried to perfection and incredibly addictive.
Guy then makes his way to Denver, Colorado to visit Steuben's, a classic diner that has been around since 1945. They specialize in comfort food and have a menu filled with classic dishes. Guy tries their Fried Lobster Tail, which is a unique twist on a classic seafood dish. The lobster tail is coated in a crispy batter and served with a delicious remoulade sauce.
Finally, Guy makes his way to the Big Easy in New Orleans, Louisiana to visit Willie Mae's Scotch House. They have been serving up award-winning fried chicken since 1957 and have become a legend in the city. Guy tries their Fried Chicken and discovers that it lives up to the hype. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and has a crispy batter that is irresistible.
Overall, this episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is all about the art of frying. From classic American diners to Mexican seafood trucks and southern-style comfort food, Guy Fieri explores some of the most unique and delicious fried dishes across America.
