In this episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, host Guy Fieri travels to different restaurants in search of their house specialties. He starts off in Portland, Oregon where he visits The Original Hotcake House, a 24-hour diner that's been around for over 50 years. Guy tries their famous pancakes and hash browns and meets the owner whose father started the restaurant back in the 1960s.
Next up, Guy heads to San Francisco to visit El Farolito, a Mexican restaurant that's known for their amazing Mission Style burritos. He meets the owner and tries their carne asada, pollo asado and al pastor burritos. The portions are huge and the flavors are explosive.
Guy then heads to Wisconsin to visit Speed Queen Barbeque, a takeout-only barbecue joint that's been around since 1968. He tries their ribs, brisket, and beef sandwiches. The owner shows him their unique cooking process which involves using a grill that's over 100 years old.
After Wisconsin, Guy heads to Philadelphia to visit John's Roast Pork, a sandwich shop that's been serving up their famous roast pork sandwiches since 1930. Guy meets the owner and tries their roast pork and cheesesteak sandwiches which are both packed with flavor.
Lastly, Guy heads to Chicago to visit The Depot American Diner, a breakfast spot that's been open since 1984. He tries their sausage gravy and biscuits, corned beef hash, and apple pancake which are all house specialties. The owner shows him their antique train car where customers can sit and dine.
Throughout this episode, Guy meets with the owners and chefs and learns about the history and stories behind each restaurant. He tries their signature dishes and shares his excitement for the incredible flavors and passion behind each establishment.
