In season 1 episode 2 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives titled "That's Italian," host Guy Fieri takes viewers on a culinary tour of some of the best Italian cuisine in America.

The episode begins in San Francisco, California, where Guy visits Giordano Bros. This family-owned and operated establishment specializes in a sandwich called the "all-in-one," which is a combination of Italian meats, fries, and coleslaw on a soft roll. Guy is blown away by the unique combination of flavors and the heartiness of the sandwich.

Next, Guy heads to St. Louis, Missouri, to try the traditional Sicilian-style pizza at Frank & Helen's Pizzeria. The pizza at Frank & Helen's is known for its thick, fluffy crust and fresh ingredients. Guy meets with the owner, Frank, who shares his family's history and passion for making pizza. Frank even invites Guy to help him make a pizza and learn some of the techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation.

The third stop on Guy's Italian culinary adventure is in Scottsdale, Arizona, at The Pink Pony. This restaurant has been a local favorite since the 1940s and is known for its classic Italian-American dishes like meatballs and spaghetti. Guy meets with the owner, Ross, who shares the history of the restaurant and shows him how to make their signature dish, chicken parmesan.

In Eugene, Oregon, Guy visits Beppe & Gianni's Trattoria, an authentic Italian restaurant that has been serving the community for over 20 years. Guy tries the house-made sausage and pasta, which is made fresh daily. He also samples the tiramisu, which is made with homemade sponge cake, ladyfingers, and espresso.

The fifth and final stop on Guy's Italian culinary tour takes him to Providence, Rhode Island, where he visits an Italian grocery store called Venda Ravioli. This family-owned business has been selling traditional Italian goods like pasta, meats, and cheeses for over 70 years. Guy samples some of their fresh mozzarella and sees how they make their pasta by hand.

Throughout the episode, Guy showcases the diversity of Italian cuisine in America and meets the passionate people behind the restaurants and businesses. Viewers are taken on a culinary journey across the country and given a glimpse into the history and traditions of Italian cuisine in America.
