Ep 5. Australian Cheese Pioneers - Australia

In this episode of Cheese Slices season 2, host Will Studd travels to Australia to explore the country's rich history of cheese making and meet some of the pioneers of the industry.

Studd begins his journey in Adelaide to visit the Woodside Cheese Wrights, one of the most famous and successful artisan cheese makers in Australia. He speaks with Kris Lockett, the head cheese maker, who explains how they use fresh milk from the local Adelaide Hills to make their award-winning cheeses. Studd also gets to taste some of their delicious cheeses, including their popular goat cheese.

Moving on to Melbourne, Studd meets with Richard Thomas, the owner of Holy Goat Cheese, a small farm that specializes in making goat cheese. Next up, Studd heads to the King Island Dairy in Tasmania, which is known for its high-quality dairy products. Studd also gets to taste some of their delicious cheese, including the famous Roaring Forties Blue.

In the final segment of the episode, Studd travels to Sydney to meet with Will Studd, his own brother and a respected cheese expert. The two discuss the state of the Australian cheese industry and the challenges facing artisan cheese makers. They also taste some of the best cheeses Australia has to offer, including a washed rind cow’s milk cheese that is a favorite of the Studd family.
