MTV Bans Kristen Stewart-Affair Jokes During VMAs
August 10, 2012 @ 5:58 pm PST    MTV Video Music Awards     Sean Comer
Before now, when has MTV ever necessarily protected celebrities' feelings? In this case, the problem isn't entirely the gag order on jokes at the VMAs next month about Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. It's that MTV is pretending this is about anything except Summit Entertainment holding a gun to the network's head and handcuffing host Kevin Hart the way it never would've reined in Chris Rock once upon a time.

August 10, 2012 @ 3:51 pm PST    MTV Video Music Awards     Sean Comer
Whoever coined the phrase "It's better to ask forgiveness than permission" was clearly never dragged to court. Monster Energy Corp. wasn't so lucky. The energy drink maker allegedly used several Beastie Boys songs despite the late Adam Yauch's will prohibiting it explicitly, and now the surviving members and Yauch's widow are making a legal fight of it.

David Duchovny has a point: when 20th Century Fox has a homegrown franchise like "The X-Files" that can make a profit on a limited budget, why not make a third movie? He said that he and co-star Gillian Anderson are both strongly in favor of a third big-screen installment.

August 10, 2012 @ 3:49 pm PST    Richard Roeper's Reviews     Sean Comer
C'mon, folks. Even everybody that pleads for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's privacy to be respected as their relationship implodes and insists the actors be separated from their characters, seeing Edward and Bella Cullen together this way in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2" stills is just a tad weird. Still, together, they were.

First 'Red Dawn' Remake Trailer Arrives
August 10, 2012 @ 1:23 pm PST    The Beast     Sean Comer
It's a shame Patrick Swayze isn't around to witness this one. Unlike the attempts to revive "Dirty Dancing," this is a take on one of his better-known roles that looks like it might do it justice. How will "Red Dawn" stand up as a 2012 remake compared with a decade's topical cult classic?
