TV and Movie News (page 1521)
We hate to eulogize the show based solely on Steve Carrell leaving, but this week's news had us thinking about our favorite episodes of NBC's hit, The Office.
For us, the signature episode, Weight Loss, originally aired September 25, 2008 and was the premier of the 5th season. Not coincidentally, the 5th was the show's best season overall as well.
Weight Loss was filled with hilarious moments that centered around the casts' new-found obsession with losing weight.
The internet has been full of rumors and speculation regarding a recent posting by the sketchy-at-best MediaTakeout.com claiming that Kanye West is attached to a recent project playing a gay jazz man in a film featuring what the site has called “explicit gay sex.”
The site goes on to mention a number of high-profile African-American backers, including Wil Smith, Oprah Winfrey and Jay Z, and they cite the script as an award-winner in the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Nicholl screenwriting competition.
From starlet-making performances by a fresh-faced actress to classic performances by Academy Award winners Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon, "True Grit" had all the makings of a well-deserved awards season cleanup, yet the film was noticably shut out of any Golden Globes nominations. Here's the Top 5 reasons we think the Academy Awards should make things right and give "True Grit" the consideration it deserves.
Holly Madison is starting to sound a bit desperate. I hate to say it, but it is looking that way.
First, she busted out of Hugh Hefner’s place with her own stage show and then a hot boyfriend in Criss Angel. Well, after a year or two, Holly realized maybe she made a mistake…
Without the Playboy namesake behind her, without The Girls Next Door Show, Holly’s name fell out of popularity.
Last night I finally got to watch more than five minutes of the new NBC series 'The Cape'. It was probably a good thing I was hunkered down in bed, experiencing a snowstorm or else I would have gotten something else.
Originally, the previews for The Cape made it look like a man was training to be a superhero in the modern day.
After watching more than five minutes (I’ll admit I missed the first ten), I’m not so sure it is set in the present day.
Regis Philbin is retiring! The 79-year-old longtime TV host announced on his LIVE show Tuesday that, after 28 years of hosting the show, he will be retiring this year.
Former co-host Kathy Lee was replaced with Kelly Ripa, who now stands to take over the show.
Now everyone is wondering who will take Regis’s place.
Anderson Cooper, from CNN, has subbed many times in the past, but leaving a primetime news network to go for a one hour morning TV would be a step down.
Kathy Bates moved to TV last night with a bang!
Kathy is starring in a new dramedy airing on NBC called Harry’s Law. In the new series that premiered last night, Kathy is a fired patent lawyer turned criminal lawyer who figures stuff out on her feet.
Actually, the show started out questionable as Harriet (Bates) is fired and leaves her office when two different mishaps hit her – literally – in the first two days.
Hannah Montana is no longer!
For all of you Hannah haters, or Miley Cyrus UNFans, you can rejoice in the fact that the show that made her famous is ending its long run. The final episode of Hannah Montana aired on the Disney Channel last night with little fanfare.
Don’t you find it strange? Usually, the last show of a series is made out to be a huge PR campaign. Normally it is very sentimental, there is a lot of hoopla and viewing parties and then sometimes even an after show with the cast.
Ricky Gervais delivered what the first awards show of the season wanted: buzz!
Ricky was asked to host the awards show even though he is known for his off-color humor. So really, I’m not surprised there is a bit of outrage from the stars that he bashed onstage last night. I mean, why hire a celebrity basher to host if you don’t want your celebrities bashed?
Ricky came out at first and offended several people in the audience such as Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.
This one snuck by us: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban announced they are parents! What? That Hollywood water has been doing some whacky things, but Nicole did NOT look pregnant at the Golden Globes last night. It turns out she wasn't. The couple announced today that they had a baby girl born via a surrogate mother back in December.
How did they keep that quiet for almost a whole month? It turns out that Nicole and Keith were deliberately keeping this hush hush, most likely to keep their surrogate a secret.
