Ep 1. Sluice or Die

Yukon Gold season 1 episode 1, titled "Sluice or Die," follows the lives of four mining crews as they search for fortune in the harsh wilderness of the Canadian Yukon. Each crew is made up of a colorful cast of characters who have ventured to the region in search of gold, but they quickly find out that the search is harder than they ever imagined.

The first crew we meet is made up of father and son team Karl and Marty Knutson. They have been mining in the area for over a decade and have never struck it big. They are hoping that this year will be different, and they are looking to expand their operation by adding a high-tech sluice box system to their operation. But when they begin to assemble it, they quickly realize that they are in over their heads.

The next crew we meet is made up of Ken Foy and Guillaume Brodeur. They are best friends who have been mining together for years, but they are in desperate need of a big payday. They decide to take a risk and move to a new site that has shown promise in the past. But when they arrive, they find that the land has been completely stripped of gold.

The third crew we meet is made up of Cam Johnson and his girlfriend, Jen. They are a young and inexperienced couple who are hoping to strike it rich quickly so that they can start a new life together. They have invested all of their money in their operation and are betting everything on finding gold. But when Cam's inexperience leads to a costly mistake, their future hangs in the balance.

Finally, we meet the Porcupine Creek crew made up of Todd Hoffman, his father Jack, and several other family members. Todd is a former businessman who has sunk all of his money into gold mining. He is hoping that he can build a successful operation and retire in comfort. But when they arrive at their site, they find that they are in a race against time to get their sluice box system up and running before winter sets in.

As each crew faces their own challenges and setbacks, they must work together to overcome the harsh conditions and find the gold they so desperately seek. This is a story of determination, grit, and the unbreakable bond between those who are willing to risk everything for the chance at a better life.
