Ep 6. First Duel

Yu-Gi-Oh! season 1 episode 6, titled "First Duel", introduces a new character named Joey Wheeler, who is Yugi's best friend. The episode starts with Yugi and Joey walking to school discussing the upcoming Duel Monsters tournament. Joey is a big fan of Duel Monsters and excited to watch the tournament.

Meanwhile, Bakura, a new student from England, is also on his way to school. He seems to be lost and finds himself in the wrong part of town where he gets mugged by a group of thugs. Yugi and his grandfather, Solomon, who was coincidentally nearby, come to his rescue. Bakura faints after the ordeal and Yugi and his grandpa take him to their game shop.

Bakura wakes up and explains that he has a rare item that was stolen from him by the thugs. The item, a Millennium Item which is a key to unlock great power, is especially precious to Bakura as it has been passed down in his family for generations. Yugi and his grandfather promise to help him retrieve it.

Joey visits Yugi after school and spots the Millennium Puzzle. He is curious and asks Yugi about it. Yugi shows Joey how to solve the puzzle and Joey realizes that Yugi is really good at games. Joey challenges Yugi to a game of Duel Monsters, but Yugi warns Joey that he is inexperienced and may lose. Joey insists, and they begin to play.

The game starts off slow, but Joey becomes aggressive and starts using cards with high attack points, ignoring the potential consequences of his actions. Yugi tries to help Joey learn the game by explaining strategies and ways to use different cards. However, Joey becomes frustrated and takes it as an insult, believing Yugi is mocking him.

Joey ultimately loses the game, and Yugi explains to Joey that Duel Monsters is a game of strategy and not just about having strong cards. Joey realizes his mistake and apologizes to Yugi.

Later that night, Yugi, his grandfather, and Bakura go to the location where the Millennium Item was stolen. They find the thugs and a duel commences. Bakura takes over the game, and it is soon revealed he is not an ordinary person. Bakura has a piece of the Shadow Realm (an alternate reality filled with dangerous creatures and magic) inside him. The Shadow Realm gives Bakura incredible power, and he successfully retrieves the Millennium Item with ease.

As they are leaving, Bakura is attacked by an unknown force and faints. Yugi and his grandfather take Bakura back to their game shop where they question what happened. It is then revealed that the force that attacked Bakura was Mystical Elf, a character from their Duel Monsters game that had mysteriously come to life.

The episode ends with Yugi, Joey, and Bakura reflecting on their experiences, and Bakura tells Yugi that he wants to be friends with him. They all head off to school the next day.

Overall, "First Duel" introduces new characters and further explores the world of Duel Monsters. It also delves into themes of friendship, strategy, and the potential dangers of accessing the Shadow Realm.
