Ep 8. For the Sake of Syrus

Jaden and Syrus are dueling it out in the woods. Despite their best efforts, Jaden dominates Syrus with his powerful monsters. Syrus asks to call off the duel, but Jaden refuses, believing that Syrus needs to become a better duelist.

Later, the two are walking and talking about the duel. They stumble upon a group of elite duelists from an underground school who are practicing. The team captain, David Rabb, challenges Jaden to a duel. If Jaden wins, Rabb's team will leave their school. If Rabb wins, Jaden must leave Duel Academy forever. Jaden agrees.

The duel begins, and Rabb starts off strong with his fiery monsters. In the midst of the duel, Syrus realizes that Jaden never wanted to win the duel against him. Instead, Jaden was trying to teach Syrus how to become a better duelist. Syrus decides to help Jaden by sneaking into Rabb's school to find out their strategy.

Meanwhile, Jaden is on the ropes, losing to Rabb's powerful deck. But Syrus returns with some information that could help them win the duel. Jaden takes Syrus' advice and changes his strategy, and it works. Jaden wins the duel, and Rabb's team leaves their school.

Syrus is elated that he's finally getting better as a duelist, and Jaden is proud of him. The two continue walking and talking about their future at Duel Academy.
