As the twenty-third episode of the first season, Duel of the Dragons, Part 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's follows the intense tournament where both Leo and Luna end up winning keys that lead them closer to unlocking the secrets of the Crimson Dragon. Eager to see what lies ahead, the group prepares for the tasks ahead, only to be interrupted by another familiar face from the past.
As the episode begins, we're taken back to the Satellite, where the police force is trying to regain order. However, their efforts are in vain as a new gang of thugs has emerged, calling themselves the Hellraisers, who are out on a mission to wreak havoc and put on a show of might.
To prove their power, they decide to challenge the current champion of the Satellite, Bolt Tanner, to a duel. Bolt initially turns down the offer but eventually agrees when he's given no other choice by the Hellraisers. However, the stakes are raised as the leader of the group, Breo, decides that they will put on a double-duel show, with Breo and Bolt taking the center stage to battle it out.
As the two face off, it becomes evident that Breo is not to be taken lightly. He employs a new technique, known as hyper-synchronization, which allows him to become one with a dragon monster, further intensifying his abilities. However, Bolt is quick to show that he too is not a pushover, as he matches Breo's every move and manages to hold his own in the duel.
Meanwhile, Yusei, Jack, and Crow watch the battle from afar, and Jack reveals that Breo was once a pro duelist, who had a fierce rivalry with him in the past. Seeing that Bolt is struggling, Jack decides to step in and give him some assistance, much to Yusei's surprise. However, he is convinced that Jack has some motives that are yet to be revealed.
As the episode comes to a close, Breo unleashes his ace monster, the Earthbound Immortal, Ccapac Apu, stunning the audience and Bolt alike with its sheer size and power. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, with our heroes set to intervene in the next episode, and the dueling duo set to continue their battle.
Overall, Duel of the Dragons, Part 1 is a rollercoaster ride of intense duels, familiar faces, and new challenges. It sets the stage for future events and keeps the audience hooked with its action-packed narrative and engaging characters. It's a must-watch for any fan of the series.
