Kosei has been working hard to prepare for the Eastern Japan Piano Competition, but his mind is still plagued with thoughts of his deceased mother and the trauma she caused him. He finds comfort in Tsubaki's company and begins to see her in a new light, leading him to confess his feelings to her. However, Tsubaki is hesitant to accept his confession, as she is still unsure of her own feelings.
Meanwhile, Kaori receives some devastating news from her doctor and begins to question whether she will ever be able to play the violin again. She refuses to accept defeat and continues to practice, determined to play one last time at the competition. However, as the day of the competition approaches, both Kosei and Kaori begin to feel the pressure and realize the magnitude of what is at stake.
When the day of the competition finally arrives, Kosei takes the stage and plays with all his heart. As he finishes his performance, he looks to the audience to find Kaori, but she is nowhere to be found. He later discovers that she has collapsed backstage and rushes to her side, realizing the extent of her condition.
As Kosei watches Kaori struggle to play her piece, he is overcome with emotion and begins to see his own struggles with the piano in a new light. He realizes that the light of life, the passion and love for music, is what truly matters and decides to dedicate his final performance to Kaori, playing with all his heart and soul.
The episode ends with a cliffhanger, leaving viewers wondering about Kaori's fate and the aftermath of the competition.
