- February 27, 2014
You Gotta Eat Here season 1 episode 10, titled "D & S Southern BBQ, Deja-Bu, Bubi's Awesome Eats," features host John Catucci as he travels to three restaurants in Texas and Oklahoma that are known for their delicious food.
First up is D & S Southern BBQ in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where John gets to try some of the best brisket he's ever tasted. The owner, Dave, has been smoking meat for over 20 years and it shows in the quality of his food. John also samples the burnt ends and ribs which have been smoked for 6 and 8 hours, respectively. It's no wonder that D & S Southern BBQ has a loyal following of locals and out-of-towners alike.
Next, John heads to Deja-Bu in Austin, Texas, where he gets to try some unique fusion cuisine. Chef Raymond has combined his love for Cajun and Mexican food to create dishes like jambalaya tacos and crawfish enchiladas. John is also blown away by their crawfish mac and cheese, which has become a customer favorite. Deja-Bu may not have a big sign out front, but once you find it, you won't be disappointed.
The final stop on John's journey is Bubi's Awesome Eats in San Antonio, Texas. In a city known for its Tex-Mex cuisine, Bubi's stands out for their delicious sliders and creative toppings. John tries the pastrami slider, which is topped with Swiss cheese, kraut, and Russian dressing. He also samples the patty melt, which is made with two grilled cheese sandwiches as the buns. Bubi's may not be a traditional Tex-Mex restaurant, but their sliders are definitely worth the visit.
Throughout the episode, John also gets to meet the owners and chefs behind these restaurants and hear their stories. Whether it's Dave's passion for BBQ, Raymond's culinary creativity, or Bubi's dedication to quality ingredients, each restaurant has its own unique personality that shines through in their food. You Gotta Eat Here season 1 episode 10 is a celebration of delicious food, great people, and the joy that comes from sharing a meal together.
