Ep 5. Greg's New Assistant

  • March 16, 2005
  • 6.6  (20)

Greg hires a new assistant, Jimmy, who he hopes will help lighten his workload. However, after spending just a little bit of time with Jimmy, both Greg and Kim are convinced that he's a little too perfect - he's kind, smart, handsome, and seems to be great at every task Greg throws his way. As a result, they both become increasingly suspicious of Jimmy's motives and skills, worrying that he may be trying to steal Greg's job or undermine him in some way.

Despite their paranoia, Jimmy continues to impress Greg with his work and generally helpful attitude. It seems like he's the perfect addition to the team... until he starts making some unusual requests. First, he asks Greg for a personal loan, claiming that he needs the money to take care of his sick mother. Then, he asks Kim to help him plan a surprise for Greg's birthday, which ends up being a little too elaborate and expensive.

As the episode progresses, both Greg and Kim become more and more convinced that Jimmy is up to something. They start snooping around his office and trying to catch him in a lie, but all of their efforts are in vain. In the end, they realize that they've been completely wrong about Jimmy - he's not a conniving schemer trying to steal Greg's job, he's just a genuinely good guy who's had a few tough breaks in life.

At the end of the episode, Greg and Kim apologize to Jimmy for their suspicions and thank him for all of his hard work. It's a heartwarming moment that highlights the importance of trust and communication in any relationship, whether it's between friends, coworkers, or family members.
